artistic director, actor
Core Group
Everything Adelheid Roosen creates comes from a single vision: I am here because you are here.
The vehicle for this vision is art, that fantastic designer of all the revelations that fall at your feet every day. Adelheid picks them up.

Her work is intertwined with the search for the Other. It is not an attempt to understand the stranger. Instead, Roosen shifts perspective to show that there is in fact no such thing as the stranger.

Adelheid is the artistic director of both Female Economy and Zina.

She has taught at the Amsterdam School of the Arts since 1986, and was a mentor at DasArts under the magnificent wings of Moniek Toebosch.

Her documentary 'Mam' was nominated for the 2009 IDFA Award for Short Documentary. In the same year Adelheid won the Amsterdam Award for her boundary breaking contribution to the arts in Amsterdam. In 2010 and 2011 she was the ambassador against domestic violence.

In 2012 she received the prestigious Proscenium award for her entire oeuvre. In 2013 she was the spokeswoman for Mama Cash in 2013.
