Beauty Verhalen Salon Brussels - Amsterdam

Audio-installation with stories from Molenbeek to Slotermeer

The telephone rings. An anonymous foreign number.

A male voice whispers: “Congrats, your son has died a martyr.
The doors of paradise have been opened to him.”

The man hangs up.
Zoubida, Amsterdam

Sit back, relax and close your eyes. With the pleasure of a hand massage, away from the outside world, close neighbors and faraway strangers present you their intimate stories. Brussels and Amsterdam let go of their borders through their most valuable asset: the human voice.

Zina and the Kaaitheatre go on a journey with this audio-installation of distant views from Slotermeer to Molenbeek. Inhabitants, border crossers, in search of unlimited happiness and safety whilst being confronted with the unrelenting reality in the promised land. Does unknown also make unloved?
